First Presbyterian Church of Warren is excited to welcome Rev Ruthanne Herrington as our interim pastor. Rev Ruthanne will begin October 1st and her first Sunday will be October 6, which happens to be World Communion Sunday. Join us as we welcome Rev Ruthanne to First Church!
The Rev. Ruthanne Herrington has served as the Transitional or Interim Pastor at several Detroit Area churches. Most recently she was the Interim Pastor at the First Presbyterian in Jackson Michigan. She also served as the chaplain at Glacier Hills Senior Living Community in Ann Arbor. Ruthanne is active in the Presbytery of Detroit (POD). She has served on various committees and work groups of the Presbytery, including the Trustees. She is currently on the Commission on Ministry. Ruthanne’s faith journey has been a bit meandering, including being raised Roman Catholic, spending a decade outside the church, and finally rediscovering herself as a Child of God and a person of faith. She was a member at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Livonia, for ten years before she felt called to ministry. Ruthanne studied at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago where she received her MDiv. Ruthanne was ordained as a Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the PCUSA in, 2008 Having grown up in Farmington Hills and living in the western suburbs as an adult, Metro-Detroit has always been home for Ruthanne. She claims to have a little “Yooper” in her, as she studied engineering at Michigan Tech for two years before transferring to Wayne State where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She finally became an “east-sider” when she and her husband, Paul, moved to Chesterfield a year ago. Ruthanne has three daughters, four stepchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two cats. Whether it is kayaking in the summer, exploring lighthouses, or hiking any time of the year, Ruthanne loves spending time outdoors, especially by the water. Ruthanne is looking forward to walking with First Presbyterian Warren through the process of calling a pastor.
