Fellowship and friendships are what make First Church feel like family. Deacons sponsor all-church meals, provide Fellowship Hours after church as a place for friends to catch up, and offer a Coffee Cart in the sanctuary following worship to greet visitors and new friends.
Deacons offer ministries of compassion to those dealing with illnesses, personal struggles, and for those who can’t make it to church. They visit, call, and send greeting cards to our church family as signs of sympathy, prayer, and just as a pick-me-up when people need it most.

Members of First Presbyterian Church take prayer seriously. The prayer chain functions like a phone tree, with prayer requests being passed down the line so that all may prayer for the concern or celebration. Friends of friends have heard of the power of the prayer chain and routinely make requests. All prayer requests are welcome and are treated privately, whether for healing, addiction, personal concerns, grief, or a celebration of life. Elaine Wash and Joyce Macfarlane receive prayer requests by phone. You may call the church office at (586) 751-1721 to receive their phone numbers.
