First Warren is joining with about a dozen other congregations in the Presbytery of Detroit on a “journey” together the next 2 years. As part of our Matthew 25 commitment, we are taking part in the Vital Congregations Initiative, that comes from our national office. There are 7 “marks” of Vital Congregations: lifelong discipleship formation, intentional authentic evangelism, outward incarnational focus, empower servant leadership, Spirit-inspired worship, caring relationships, and ecclesial health. This first year, we will be doing a “check-up” in all these areas across our congregation through prayer and study. In year 2, we begin to do some deeper dives in the areas we as a congregation feel called to focus on.
First Warren is in many ways, already a Vital Congregation! After two years of pandemic, our session felt called to take part in this exciting opportunity in order to have a disciplined way to reflect and discern what areas we need to focus on in this new time. We will also have the opportunity to get to know other congregations in our area better and to share with them our wisdom and what we have learned, especially the last two years. Elder Jane Motta and Pastor Julie will be taking part in monthly conversations, prayer, and sharing. If you are interested in being part of a small team for this initiative or learning more, please contact Jane or Julie.

My baptism ceremony was held at https://lhhouston.church/ministries/baptism/, and I still recall it. It was one of my best recollections because I truly sensed the presence of God there. He has helped me get my life back on track. I also want to express my gratitude to our church's members for helping me in my spiritual journey!
